As a member of this collective, founded by Dr. Gladys Rowe, I bring a design lens to evaluation and strategy consulting for clients. I co-design research methods and facilitate engagements with Indigenous community members as well as institutional representatives, ensuring that voices and ideas are documented, communicated and contribute to actionable pathways to positive change.

In 2025, I contributed to two Indigenous Insights evaluation projects with the University of Manitoba. The first was a process evaluation for the Manitoba Collaborative Indigenous Education Blueprint (MCIEB). The MCIEB is a partnership involving Manitoba’s six universities, three colleges, Indigenous organizations, government partners, and the Manitoba School Boards Association, with the goal of advancing excellence in Indigenous education in Manitoba. The University of Manitoba and MCIEB commissioned Indigenous Insights Collective to undertake the evaluation, which was led by Gladys and supported by design researchers Lana Klok and myself. The project took place from March until November 2025, with findings and recommendations drawn directly from input from key leaders and MCIEB representatives. Our final Evaluation Report included thorough documentation of findings, as well as a community-centered framework of recommendations and action steps guided by the Seven Sacred Teachings.

The second project was a process evaluation for the University of Manitoba Learning Hubs initiative, funded by the Mastercard Foundation. Learning Hubs make education more accessible by creating physical spaces located in Indigenous communities in Manitoba, supported by staff and connected to UofM distance learning courses. The evaluation process, led by Gladys and supported by Lana and myself, intended to document the learning story, insights and actionable data to support the sustainability of the Learning Hubs initiative, with findings generated to inform ongoing development and strengthen the case for long-term funding and new funder relationships. We designed a community engagement process where we identified key phases of the process to launch a new Learning Hub on a journey map. We facilitated conversations where Learning Hubs team members were invited to share stories about what worked well and what was challenging in each phase. These findings helped to identify opportunities to streamline operations and identify funding channels within the work, documented in an Evaluation Report.
